Предлагаемая читателю монография ученых Центра изучения Вьетнама и АСЕАН Института Дальнего Востока РАН посвящена итогам полувековой деятельности Ассоциации государств Юго+Восточной Азии (АСЕАН), ее роли в поддержании мира, безопасности и сотрудничества в регионе, актуальным проблемам и перспективам ее укрепления и развития. В монографии показаны особенности интеграционного процесса в регионе на фоне мощного подъема Китая, продолжающегося ослабления господствующих позиций США и усилившегося соперничества между великими державами в борьбе за влияние в Азии. Авторами проанализирован комплекс противоречий в Юго+Восточной Азии, прежде всего, территориальные споры в Южно+Китайском море и пути их мирного политического решения. Особое внимание уделено состоянию и перспективам отношений России с АСЕАН.

Книга адресована ученым и специалистам+практикам, занимающимся проблемами мира и безопасности в Восточной Азии и АТР, преподавателям и студентам вузов, широкому кругу читателей. Оценки и выводы в главах монографии являются полностью авторскими и не всегда совпадают с позицией ИДВ РАН.

The monograph proposed to the reader by the Center for the Vietnam and ASEAN Studies of the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences is devoted to the results of the half+century activities of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), its role in maintaining peace, security and cooperation in the region, current problems and prospects for its strengthening and development. The monograph shows the features of the integration process in the region against the backdrop of a powerful upsurge of China, the continued weakening of the dominant positions of the United States and under the influence of increased rivalry between great powers for the influence in Asia. The authors analyzed a complex of contradictions in Southeast Asia, first of all, territorial disputes in the South China Sea and the ways of its peaceful political solution. Special attention is paid to the state and prospects of Russia's relations with ASEAN.

The book is written for scholars and practitioners dealing with the problems of peace and security in East Asia and the Asia+Pacific Region, teachers and students of universities, and a wide circle of readers. The assessments and conclusions in the chapters of the monograph are fully authored and do not always coincide with the position of the IFES RAS.
